Inters continue fine league form

Blackwater 4-19 v 2-15 Tara Rocks

Our intermediate hurlers continued their fine league form with a victory over the Tara Rocks/Ballyfad/Kilanerin combination in a very sunny Blackwater pitch. The away side were without some of there regulars due to county commitments but did win intermediate A last year.

The game was very even until 10 minutes gone when our lads finally started to find space with some excellent deliveries into the full forward line along with some nice short hand passing freeing up room. Alan Malanowski who put in a fine first half performance was making use of this space using his direct running to good effect scoring a nice point followed up a similar point later on. Our lads led by two points when we scored out first goal after 17 minutes, Ollie finished well after Pad robbed the ball on the 25 and hand passed to Ollie who drilled low to the net. The side in yellow responded immediately with a point before Dean Whelan pointed, he was scoring well at centre forward. We had our second goal after Ollie won back the ball from a handpass and passed to his brother Mossy who scored from close range. More scores followed Pad, Alan and then Ben Redmond up from wing back found himself in front of goal and finished to the net. A Pad free left 13 between the sides at the turn,

Another Pad point in the first minute had it to 14 with both teams trading points right up until the 20 minute. The match had come very loose with both teams finding space easily which probably led to a late flurry of goals. With 6 minutes left, Tara Rocks goaled to reduce the score to 10 but we responded with another goal, Ben involved again flicked to Dinny did well to finish. The Rocks though weren’t finished, and goaled again within another few minutes before a late point finished out the game. .A good run out for both sides, the lads next game isn’t until 15th away with a trip to Gusserane.

Scorers: Mossy (1-3), Pad (0-5, 0-2 free), Ollie (1-1), Brian Og (0-4), Alan Malanowski (0-2), Din Brien (1-0) Ben (1-0), Dean 0-2, Mick Lillis (0-1), Topar (0-1)

Unfortunately it is was a 6 point loss for our third team playing at the same time as our first team, the lads lead early in the game but martins pulled away before the end.
