First Junior B team through to semis
Na Fianna 0-7 v 2-13 Blackwater
Our Junior B ‘A’ team made it through to the Wexford District semi finals with a game to spare after a difficult tie against Clonard.
The game as a whole was a close affair with our lads only 3 to 4 points ahead at most stages until the final 15 minutes. Seamus goaled within the first 2 minutes but Clonard playing with a sweeper made life difficult. They nearly goaled after 14 minutes when hedge had to pull off a brilliant save. The game went into a lull and it wasn’t until Kevin Purcell scored with 8 minutes left that we nudged 4 in front. Clonard got a penalty with 4 minutes left on the clock and hedge again came to our rescue tipping the shot over the bar. We led by 4 at the turn but Clonard had missed a number of frees.
The men in blue had it back to 3 within a minute but Din free pushed it out to 4. He was unlucky not to goal when he flashed a shot across the goal a minute later. Kevin Purcell scored again from corner back on 12 minutes and a Din free had it back to 5. Josh Culleton finally put some distance between the teams, Din Brien again doing well and Josh driving his shot to the net to raise the green flag. From here it was all one way traffic with brian Dooley, Din Brien and Richard getting on the score sheet. Lads still have to play St. Martins who are also already through to the semis fixed for next Sunday morning.
Scorers: Din Brien 0-5, 0-3 free, josh Culleton 1-1, Seamus 1-0,, Brian Dooley 0-2, Kevin Purcell 0-2, Paddy Cullen 0-1, James Dooley 0-1, Richard Blake 0-1 free
