B hurlers hit form

Blackwater St. Brigids 7-12 v 1-12 Shelmaliers

The b hurlers really hit form on Tuesday evening in Pairc Naomh BrĂd with Paul Murphy and Johnny O’Toole in lethal form, Murphy getting 4 of the goals and Johnny getting 3. Our lads won the toss and elected to play with a very strong wind and were 2-03 up to 3 points after 10 minutes with both goals coming from Johnny O’Toole with James Dooley providing the assists. Paul Murphy also had the ball in the net before the water break to leave 8 between the sides capping off an amazing 15 minutes for the green and hold. Din Brien hit a free on the resumption and then win 26 minutes we had our 4th goal, Murphy getting his second after a set up by the excellent James Dooley again. Two minutes later Johnny got his hat trick after a pass from Dooley and James himself had an outstanding score running away from the goal on the sideline which left 16 between the sides at the turn.

The second half started well for our lads and we had our 6th goal thanks yet again to Paul Murphy after just 4 minutes, Thos seemed to break the aways sides resistance and a couple of minutes later Johnny made one of his solo runs and was fouled to give us a penalty. Denis O’Brien hit it well for the Shels keeper to make an excellent stop but Blackwater all time top scorer Paul Murphy was on hand to pull low to the net. Our lads started to ring the changes and there was still time for Lar Lacey to slot a point over. One bad note was our goalie Robert O’Leary going off injured with a bad hand injury which will keep him out for a while. Our lads play again on Friday night away to St. Annes at 7pm.
