Brave performance by Inters
Taghmon-Camross 5-13 v 2-17 Blackwater
The final score does not tell the story as the intermediates were only one point behind with 3 minutes left on the clock. The team were extremely depleted calling on veteran hurlers Eddie Rowe, Aidan Whelan, and a few junior b’s to fill the team including Declan making his inter debut.
Taghmon started the brighter and were 4 1 up after 5 minutes before Seanie pointed from a tight angle. Taghmon goaded shortly after but our lads stayed in touch with Paul Murphy at full forward looking dangerous when receiving the ball. The score was down to two points with 17 gone after Dean Wright, who caught a large amount of puc outs, hand passed by Paul to point. Taghmon nearly goaled a few minutes later only for a one handed diving save from Eddie Rowe, a top class stop. Unfortunately he couldn’t keep out Taghmon’s next goal shot which left the lads 5 down at the break.
Shane Butler pointed in the first minute while it was back to 1 point a minute later with Dean Wright continuing his aerial ability catching and laying it on for Diarmuid who soled through to finish low to the net. The Murphy brothers combined well 2 minutes later to set up Paul to turn the full back and finish well to leave the lads two in front. Taghmon did the bar on 9 minutes before they did level the game with a third goal with a third of the second half gone. Yet again though we upped the performance and moved two in front but couldn’t shake the Taghmon team who were level with just 10 left on the clock. Unfortunately they finished the stronger in the last couple of minutes.
