Junior B’s triumph in Piercestown
St. Martins 4-04 v 3-16 Blackwater
The Junior B team enjoyed a excellent victory over St. Martins on Thursday evening in the championship to keep them on course for a semi final spot. The lads started at a serious pace and had 1-1 on the board in the first two minutes, Paul Murphy and James Dooley combing to finish. Martins responded immediately before we scored a second goal minute later. The Murphy-Dooley combo going the damage again. Two Dean Whelan and Jake Nobbs scores had us flying before St. Martins were awarded a very harsh penalty. Their goalkeeper dispatched it to leave it back to 4, even though we were completely on top. A Wayne free on 12 minutes had us up to 5 while four more Wayne scores had us leading by 8. Things got even better when Dooley battled hard and passed to Lar Lacey who finished low to the net but Martins goaled right before half time to leave 8 between the sides.
The lads started the second half well with both sides swapping points at various stages but had the score out to 9 with 16 to go. Yet again Martins snuck back in with a goal to bring the scores back to 6 with 10 to go but our lads never panicked Wayne did well to slot over free while Jake Nobbs put over a shot from distance to finish out the game.
