Four star Juniors and U15s
ACFLD4 Blackwater 4-14 v 0-10 Gusserane O’Rahillys
The Junior footballers scored 4 goals on their way to victory against the men from the south of the county to qualify for the all county league division 4 football semi final.
Our lads welcomed back a number of players who have been on holidays and doing exams recently and we enjoyed a good start leading 3 points to no score with about 8 minutes gone on the clock. The men of saffron and blue took over then, scoring the next four points in a row. We eventually got to grips with the game and after hitting a number of wides pushed it out to a four point lead before our first goal. A long kickout by Ger was won by Mick Lillis, he handpassed to Mossy, who soloed through, took a one two off Derek and finished brilliantly low to the keeps left. Diarmuid Murphy had Blackwaters second goal five minutes later after some brilliant work to leave the lads 2-07 to 0-06 points at the turn.
The lads pushed on strong in the second period scoring two more goals, with Conor Sutton punishing a mistake in the Gusserane defense while a brilliant ball across from Pad O’Connor to Kerill Sutton won a penalty which Sutton dispatched well. Gusserane didnt score until about 10 minutes to go with our defense playing particularly well but our lads finished out strongly with two late Jake Nobbs points.
