Minors leave it late
Castletown 2-04 v 3-08 St. Brigids Blackwater
The minor footballers left it late to defeat a dogged Castletown in the championship on Monday evening last. Castletown enjoyed a strong first 10 minutes but were guilty of hitting a number of wides. We started to grow into the game and Thomas Donovan finished well to the net after a scramble tin the box after 7 minutes. We tagged on a few more scores before Castletown responded with two quick frees before they goaled to leave just three in it at the break. It wasnt long before Castletown were level and with 15 minutes to go they were in the ascendancy. But fair play to our lads, they upped there game, firstly Mossy finishing a penalty well to the net and that was followed by a second goal shortly after by Thomas. That took the sting out of the game and it petered out in the final few minutes. So qualification is secured for the quarter final with two games to go. The next football game is against Ferns on the 23rd July while its hurling action next Monday against Rathgarogue/Cushinstown away at 7:30pm.
