Minor footballers make it 3 from 4

Glynn/Barntown 4-04 v 3-13 Blackwater

Our lads were pushed all the way in this exciting championship match in a sunny Kilurin on Monday evening. Last years encounter resulted in a 1 point victory for our lads so the game was always going be tight with Glynn Barntown leading at one stage in the second half. The home side started the better and lead after 15 minutes by 4 points after they scored an opportunistic goal and then scored a second a few minutes later. Our lads started to pick away and Shane Lynch brought us back into the game with a wonderful catch and goal. He pointed a minute later and we were just 2 down at the break. Shane again and then a Ross free brought us back level before yet again Barntown had the ball in the net. Yet again we dug deep with Feidhlim Roche stamping his authority in midfield making some wonderful direct runs and with only 15 left, Pad O’Connor moved up from full back had the ball in the net. This pushed the boys on and quick scores by Ross Berry and then Adam Murphy put us finally into the lead. The final sucker punch came when a high ball into Shane Lynch was caught by him brilliantly and he drove the ball to the net to leave 6 between the teams. With only a couple of minutes left Barntown were going for goals but were finding to hard to break the defence with Kealan in especially excellent form, Glynn did manage to bring to back to just three when a mis kick fell into a corner forward hands who couldnt miss. We responded almost immediately winning the kick out, working it up field and then winning a penalty. Mossy Murphy elected to put it over the bar to give us a 4 point cushion. We struck over two more points from Conor Byrne and a Feidhlim Roche blasted shot off the bar which went over to leave the lads winning by 6 at the end.
