Leinster League Final loss

St. Brigids Blackwater 0-18 v 1-19 Eire Og Chorra Coill

Once the disappointment of the final loss is over it, the lads will realise that this was a valuable learning experience for the championship days ahead. The final score does not reflect the closeness of the game with the lads leading at various stages throughout the match with no more than 2 points separating the teams until extra time.

The Kildare side started the better and were leading 3 points to 1 after 4 minutes before Dean Wright scored two points to level after 6 minutes. The Kildare side though enjoyed a strong 5 minutes scoring 1-2 without reply. In fairness though, our lads staged a great comeback with Dean Wrights free taking putting us back into the mix. Diarmuid got two scores in quick succession before 2 more Wright frees put us in front at the break. The game was very close in the second period and were unlucky not to be behind after a few minutes when Peter made an unbelievable save from point blank range. The game was classed on mostly frees for the next 10 minutes with us leading by 1 and then they would level again. We finally did get some breathing room by moving two in front with just 12 to go but Eire Og were level again 4 minutes later. That man again Dean Wright moved us back in front with another excellent free but unfortunately Eire Og drove on the stronger going into the last 6 minutes scoring 3 in a row. Dean Wright brought it back to just a single point with the clock heading into injury time but we they won three vital puc outs to finish the match out strongly.
