Buttle goal drives Junior B team to victory over Shels
St. Brigids Blackwater 2-17 v – 2-08 Shelmaliers
While there was 9 points in the game at the end, the game was close up until the 35th minute. Our lads were leading 6 points to 1 point with 15 minutes gone and looked like they were going to coast to victory but Shels fought back to bring it just back to to 2 points with 5 minutes left. We scored two further points before half time to lead by 2. Shels could of been in the lad only for a hopeful ball across the area hit the bottom of the post. Within a few minutes of the second half though, we had stretched the score out to 4 points before James Dooley managed to angle free and scored the games first goal. We had our second goal about 5 minutes later when a high ball in to Eoin Buttle who was tussling with the full back, Eoin managed to direct the ball into the bottom corner, for his first goal in a number of years. We started to put over some excellent long range scores had our lads leading by 16 points. The management started to make a number of sub changes and t seemed to have a effect on the game. The Shels scored two late consolation goals but it leaves them needing other results to go their way to get into one of the semi-final spots.
