Goal fest in early morning game.
St. Brigids Blackwater 6-06 v 5-06 Glynn-Barntown
Mossy Murphy finished with a personal tally of 4-01 as the U16s got off the mark for the championship in a dry Blackwater on the rescheduled game on Sunday morning at 10am. The lads got off to a bad start when Barntown scored two goals within the first 4 minutes. The lads though started to get into the game and scored 5 points without reply before Ian O’Reilly made a brilliant save in the goal the first of many. The lads though were to get a goal on there own when a high ball in was caught by Shane Lynch and the Clare man made no mistake. Unfortunately Glynn responded immediately goaling to leave the boys 4 behind at the turn.
Ian again made a great save upon the restart before Mossy goaled within 3 minutes and put Blackwater into the lead two minutes later with another goal. With 10 gone, things got better when Mossy dispatched a penalty. Josh Culleton got
in on the act with 10 to go after Johnny O’Toole soloed the length of the pitch and Culleton drilled to the net. Barntown goaled again before Mossy got his 4th goal of the day with 4 left. But Barntown weren’t done scoring 1-1 to set up a tense last few minutes.
Tomas Murphy (4-2, 0-1 free), Shane Lynch (1-1, 0-1 free), Ross Berry (0-3), Josh Culleton (1-0)
