Feile Round Up

The boys and girls of Blackwater enjoyed a brilliant weekend in the 2017 Feile Championship. Firstly the boys played St. Vincents of Dublin and unfortunately met a very strong Dublin team losing 1-10 to 0-03 in Oulart. The second game was a mouth watering local affair and in this the boys never gave an inch winning 3-05 to 2-03 with Jay Mooney striking 3-01 from corner forward. On Saturday morning in Blackwater they played the team who we were hosting Ballina in front of a large crowd we won 1-10 to 0-04. Then it was onto the Ferns Centre of Excellence where the boys were drawn to play Eire Og Ennis. Unfortunately were they met boys who were nearly twice the size as some of our players and we just couldn’t match there physicality. The boys still played with plenty of heart and fought right to the end. Its a credit to the boys though that the Ballina team they defeated went on to win the Division 3  Shield Title. St. Vincent reached the Division 3 final just losing out.

The girls played on Friday in Monamolin but again lost to two very strong teams in Buffers Alley and Salthill. They saved there best performance for Saturday playing St. Vincents of Dublin putting in an excellent performance winning the game well. Then in the quarter finals they lost out.

All in all a good weekend by all with I think everyone can agree that the club grounds were in magnificent order and a high thank you to anyone who helped out over the past week.
