Big win in Hollymount

Shelmaliers 2-15 v 3-20 Blackwater

Our minor hurlers put up a big score against our neighbours in the final round of the premier championship. Tomas Murphy enjoyed a scoring spree finishing with a personal tally of 2-03 while Pad was excellent on the frees. Even though the lads won by 8, it was the Shels who started quicker notching over 3 points, before a Pad free and Adam 65 brought it back to one. After 15 minutes, the game changer, Mossy excellently caught the ball soloed from the middle and hit it low to the net. Three Pad frees before Mossy got his second goal, similar to the first driving through and finishing well. Two minutes later, we had our 3rd, a high ball broke to Pad O’Connor and full forward made no mistake lashing the sliotar to the net. We lead by 10 points with 20 gone but Shels started to grow into the game, hitting 4 without reply leaving 6 between the sides at the turn.

A Pad free settled the nerves but Shels replied with a point before they got a goal to leave 4 between the sides with only 8 minutes gone. In fairness to our lads, thats as close as the Shels got with Oge Pad and Mossy getting some excellent scores. The boys were 10 up with 10 left on the clock before the Shels won a penalty which they dispatched to bring to back to 7 but Pad made sure by scoring another free before the end.
