B team into league final with Lacey hat trick
St. Brigids Blackwater 4-12 v 1-08 Rathgarogue/Cushinstown
The second hurling team enjoyed a strong victory over the New Ross district side to reach there second league final in a row. This game was pretty much over after 20 minutes with Lar Lacey rolling back the years to hit three goals in that spell. The lads started at a brilliant pace with Nobbs, Dooley and Kerill Sutton notching over points before Lar hit the first of his goal after a nice work by James Dooley. He did brilliantly with his second catching the ball and driving low at the goalie. His third was all his own work after he won the ball off the Rathgarogue keeper and pulled one hand into the net. Cushinstown did get a goal back just before half time but the damage was done with the score 3-08 to 1-02.
The management made a number of changes at half time with Lar Lacey making way after his job was done. Cushinstown started the half better scoring 5 points in a row before our lads finally started to settle again picking off scores from distance. We scored our 4th goal with five minutes left with James Dooley breaking through letting off a good shot but the Cushintown keeper saved, luckily Declan was on hand to tap to the net. So the lads march on to the final against Oylegate/Glenbrien on Sunday. Time to be confirmed. Victory also meant that the lads are promoted no matter what happens in the final.
