Blackwater 2-12 v 1-08 Shamrocks/Davidstown-Courtnacuddy

For a second week in a row our minor hurlers put in a strong last 10 minutes to defeat the amalgamation of Shamrocks/Davidstown-Courtnacuddy in the final game of the championship before the break. Our lads raced into an early 3 point lead before Cloney Gaels responded with two frees. Frees continued for both sides before Kealan Fikentscher got our first from play with 20 gone. Then the killer blow just before half time, a high ball from Adam Murphy broke to Ross Berry and pulled on the ground to the net on the stroke of half time.

Our lads kept Cloney at a distance with two more Brian Og frees but Cloney scored a few of their own to stay within touching distance. The got a lucky break when they worked a short 65 and when the corner forward mis hit the ball into the box a high pull resulted in a 2 point game. Our lads never panicked though and Brian Og made sure of the points when he did well to side foot the corner forward to drill low to the net to push it back to 5. Two more scores from Brian Og and Kealan before the end stretched out the scoreline. Some great performances today especially in the backs with Brian Mooney, Adam Murphy, Ollie Murphy, Jimmy Whelan and Alan Malanowski putting in a strong 60 minutes.
